Not every log becomes a great slab.
We source locally and regionally, selecting for grain character, figure,
and live edge profile before a single cut is made.
The decision at this stage determines everything that follows.

That means we control the cut — preserving maximum slab width, protecting the live edge profile, and selecting the best faces of each log.

AIR DRYING
Never Rushed, Always Perfect
After milling, every slab air-dries outdoors for 3 full summers — stickered and stacked to allow airflow on all sides.
This slow, natural process stabilizes the wood, reducing internal stress before it ever enters the kiln. Skipping it is how you end up with slabs that crack or warp after installation. Most supplies shorten the drying time, due to climate issues or putting cashflow over quality.

Most slab yards don't have their own kiln. We do, custom made in Italy. Our vacuum kiln brings each slab to the correct moisture content for interior use — efficiently and without the cracking or checking that conventional kiln drying can cause. Custom orders can go directly from our air-drying yard into the kiln for a fast turnaround.
